Nice Hotel but it needs to be taken care

We loved the food at the restaurant and most of the staff make as feel welcome the were very friendly. The cleanliness of the rooms were up to standarts but they need to refurbished the rooms, they need to fumigate for the mozzies every day at least twice a day, at the bar they need more games and shows for the guests to get involved and enjoy their night, .also if there is low season and the guests ask for anything please don not give the excuse that they cant do it because is low season as the guests have pay to stay at the hotel.

Hotel Covarrubias, accommodations are spacious and contemporary styling

We like this all-inclusive beach resort, despite its reclusive position miles from anywhere on the north shore of Las Tunas province. In fact, it is surrounded by miles of impenetrable mangroves and lagoons - great for birding - and the nearest town, Puerto Principe, is a 40-minute drive away. This relatively modern facility went up in 2000 and the contemporary design still looks fresh. We wish we could say the same about the grounds, however. Not so, as upkeep is wanting and parts of the facility - including the tennis courts at last visit - were trashed.

The large freefrom pool gets lively with organized aerobics and other activities, but there's a gorgeous white sand beach framed by rocks. And the adjacent lagoons can be explored (be sure to bring lots of insect repellent). There's lots do do here, including archery, beach volleyball, and watersports. And kid's get their own pool. There are three bars to choose from, nightly cabarets are put on, and the disco on stilts overhangs the mangroves. Guests are a captive audience when it comes to dining, with no off-site facilities for miles. Take you pick of the main buffet the restaurant (which is is elegant, even romantic) or a beach grill. As with most Cuban hotels, both the range and quality of food leaves much to be desired.

Accommodations are spacious and enlivened by colorful fabrics and contemporary styling, and the bathrooms have modern fixtures. Take an upper story room for the lofty ceilings. Each room has satellite TV, although reports of poor service are frequent.

Welcome to my site dedicated to the Hotel Covarrubias in Las Tunas. I am "poco a poco" researching and updating it with the aim to provide as complete as possible record of the hotel's ancient and recent history; bearing in mind that the goings-on today may one day be of historical interest.

My site is NOT the official website of the current hotel operator, and is by no means endorsed by them; but I am grateful for their help with the research.

You can make from this site room reservations through the Bizloco eTravel System operated by Cubaism Ltd.

Best wishes for 2018
